One of my clients had some difficulties with walking, specifically her feet. I noticed that every time I visited her, she had different shoes on.
On our next visit I told her that we were going to take a trip to the shoe store. She was very much against leaving the house and getting out of her comfort zone. With a little bit of education, and encouragement, we took a visit to the local shoe store.
With her current diagnosis and health history, without support during this trip, I don’t believe she would have ever left her house let alone speak with the shoe salesman.
I helped her navigate through not wanting to leave the house, or interact with the salesman. But through some encouragement during our outing, we were able to find her a variety of options that would benefit her current situation.
She ended up finding a pair of shoes that she loved! These new shoes allow her to go on more walks with me and is overall a better shoe for her. She eventually started calling them her “DJ Shoes” since we always put them on before our walks together.
