Our Aging Road Map in Real Life – How We Help Patients With Memory Issues

Nothing better communicates our services than sharing real life stories of working with our clients

I spend my Monday’s catching up with one of our clients with short term memory issues. We take drives together on his golf cart, say hi to the neighbors, and hear stories from his childhood to his first job as a gas station attendant.

Although he struggles with short term memory issues, he knows who he is, what is important to him, and is still every bit of himself today as ever.

He lives alone, and has adult children and grandchildren who are concerned about him. He had lost 20 pounds in the last year and as he ages, his medical maintenance needs are increasing.

One of the first things I discovered when putting together our Aging Road Map for him was that he was scared to share how he is feeling overwhelmed with his medical picture. He was scared of losing his independence, and scared to share this with the people that are most worried about him.

He needed help. He needed someone to get him to his doctor appointments and manage his medications.

That’s where we came in.

We introduced shakes and food prepping and over a six-month period he was able to put on 18 pounds. Over those six-months, the family that once thought they were reduced to nursing home life, are now grateful to have him where he is.

And if anything were to happen, his family now has someone to call.
